In a written reply, Minister of State for Personnel, Jitendra Singh said that only citizens of India have the right to seek governance related data.

RTI came into force in October 2015.


 

American company Paypal operating a worldwide online payments system has partnered with HDFC Bank India.  HDFC cards will be presented as a payment option during enrollment and subsequent payments.


 

With Myanmar joining The Indian initiative International Solar Alliance (ISA), it became the 68th signatory to the Framework Agreement of the alliance.


 

Santhali with its native script has become the first Indian tribal language to get a Wikipedia edition. Spoken mostly in Jharkhand, odisha, West Bengal & Assam. Santali is a language in the Munda sub-family of Austroasiatic languages.

Also spoken in Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal.

Santhali has been recognized as a regional language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India.

There are 22 languages which are listed in the Eighth Schedule of Indian Constitution.


 

 

World Organ Donation Day observed every year on August 13.
Organs that can be donated includes:

Lungs
Liver
Kidney
Intestine
pancreas
Bones and Veins – Veins that are donated can be used in cardiac bypass surgery.
Kidney
Heart – a heart can survive only for four hours outside the body of the donor.


 

Prasar Bharati has tied up with Google  & YouTube to telecast the  2018 Independence Day programme live online.
Live stream window seen on the homepage of Google itself so that people can see with ease without needing an extra link to migrate.
Independence Day coverage opened with a song composed by musician Shankar Mahadevan.


 

Women appointed as commando in the 15th August security for the first time.
India gets first Women Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team. Members of this women team are all from north east part of India was the part of the security operation during Prime Minister’s annual Independence Day address.

Global Liveability Index 2018

In this year’s Global Liveability Index 2018 which is done by The Economist’s Intelligence Unit, on the 140 cities around the world,  Vienna displaced Melbourne as the most liveable city in the world.
Syrian capital Damascus  ranked at the bottom of 140 cities

There  are five broad parameters on which The index assigns cities scores, they are education,healthcare, stability, culture/environment and infrastructure.

Delhi  ranking 112 and Mumbai ranking 117 are  the only two Indian cities that are included in the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) annual index.


 

Pune a city in the State of Maharashtra has been ranked first in the Ease of Living Index 2018, which is released by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.


 

Jodhpur is the Cleanest railway station in the A1 category, as per 2018 cleanliness survey for Indian Railways.
Last year’s cleanest station was Vishakhapatnam.
Jaipur has bagged the second spot.
Audit-cum-survey done by Quality Council of India (QCI) at the behest of Indian Railways.

Mathura, railway station was adjudged least among 75 stations surveyed.It came at the end of the list.


 

Pitch to MOVE – launched by NITI Ayog is a mobility pitch competition that aims to provide budding entrepreneurs of India a unique opportunity to pitch their business ideas to a distinguished jury.

The competition aims to identify and reward the start-ups offering innovative solutions for shared, connected, and environment friendly mobility.
