ISSA GOOD Practice Award, Asia & the Pacific 2018
Held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has won the ‘ISSA Good Practice Award’ for Administrative Solution for Coverage Extension at the “Regional Social Security Forum for Asia and the Pacific”.
What this award about
The award recognizes the measures taken by Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) for extension of coverage-SPREE (Scheme for Promoting Registration of Employers and Employees), reduced rate of contribution rates for 24 months in newly implemented areas and raising the wage limit for coverage under the ESI (Employees’ State Insurance)Act, etc.

Filling of casual vacancies in the Houses of Parliament and State Legislatures
Section 151A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 mandates the Election Commission to fill the casual vacancies in the Houses of Parliament and State Legislatures through bye elections.
It should be done within six months from the date of occurrence of the vacancy, provided that the remainder of the term of a member in relation to a vacancy is one year or more.
In what situations bye elections are not required.
Say for example, in the case of vacancies in Andhra Pradesh.
Here there is no need to hold bye elections because the term left for the coming Lok sabha elections is less than one year (which is expected to be held in april or may 2019) from the date of occurrence of vacancies that is 20th June, 2018.
India is supporting Nigeria in building Mahatma Gandhi International Convention Centre
India is supporting Nigeria in building Mahatma Gandhi International Convention Centre (MGICC)in Niamey in Niger at the cost of USD 35.5 million on grant basis.
Nigeria is a West African country, on the Gulf of Guinea.
Its most recognizable sites is Zuma Rock, a 725m-tall monolith outside the capital of Abuja that’s pictured on the national currency.

Mobile Health app for citizens of India has been launched by Indian Air Force’s Headquarter IAF on this day. Named as ‘MedWatch’, will provide correct, Scientific and authentic health information to air warriors and all citizens of India. It is the first mobile health app in the three Armed Services and was launched by Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa.
